Nate Robinson Chooses Washington

Nate Robinson, the ultra gifted two-sport athlete from Rainier Beach H.S. in Seattle, Wash., told us he committed to Washington.

"I just felt comfortable being in this area," Robinson said. "I also considered USC, Tennessee, North Carolina, Arizona and Arizona State."

Robinson will sign a letter of intent on February 6th, football signing day. "I think I can come in and help the basketball team out right away," Robinson said. "It's going to be nice to play in front of my family and friends."

Robinson had led his team to a 17-1 mark. He is averaging 15 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and five steals per game. He previously came close to going somewhere other than Washington. "I almost committed to Southern Cal," Robinson said.

With football scholarship, I can play right away. I am going to play both sports," Robinson told us. "I look forward to that challenge."

Robinson has achieved a 950 on the SAT.

Robinson's football team lost in the second round of the state playoffs. Robinson has 1264 yards rushing on 111 carries and 28 touchdowns. "It was a great season," Robinson said. "It was kind of hard for us though (losing in state playoffs)." Robinson, a very strong and athletic 5-9, 170 pound point guard, was very impressive this past summer playing for the Friends of Hoop Basketball program. He was unstoppable at times playing alongside his high school teammates -- Lodrick and Rodrick Stewart -- at the adidas Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas.

Robinson also had a terrific Slam Dunk to the Beach tournament, according to our reporter on the scene, Russ Blake.
