Madry Explodes -- All Metro

Ryan Madry, the 6'3" Point Guard at Bishop O'Dowd High School of Oakland, California, is finally getting his due.  After being overlooked on the "Best of the Best" team (The East Bay Alameda Newspaper Group All Star Team), he was named First Team All League.  But that was expected since the always strong O'Dowd basketball teams usually place players on All League.  Ryan was also selected First Team All Metro (SF-Oak Metropolitan Area) by the San Francisco Chronicle, a most distinguished honor.  Ryan finished the season as the leading scorer with 17 pts. per game.  He also plays strong defense and is a team leader.  He has demonstrated major skills in crunch time like hitting the big 3 pointer, making a steal or grabbing a big rebound or just settling the team down, showing total control of the court.

As a member of the NorCal Magic his value is not measurable.  He is our unsung hero.  He doesn't get the big recognition like most of the other players on the Magic but he is the glue that holds us together.  Ryan is also the top rebounding guard on this team, last season averaging 4 rebounds per game.  He would be a steal for any D 1 program...very strong of the dribble, can play defense, has the body size (6'3" --- 215), can hit the 3 pt shot, and can guard the other teams top guard basically shutting him down.  Understands the game,  a coach on the floor and often has good suggestions.
