Magic Defeats Soldiers 1 for
 Championship Win

This past weekend at Diablo Valley College, Slam n Jam held it’s annual League Championships. The NorCal Magic emerged as the eventual champion in the boy’s varsity division. The Magic defeated the Newark Bobcats 45-39, then beat the undefeated St. Joseph’s 57-47. In the semifinal round The Magic were matched against the unbeaten and powerful Soldiers 1. The Magic prevailed winning over the Soldiers 59-55 . In the finals against Berkeley # 1, the Magic won 44-34. Rickey Williams of Hayward was named Most Valuable Player. Kenneth "Duce" Smith and Armondo Surratt of Oakland Tech and Clem Landrum from Castlemont was named to the All Tournament team. Other Magic team members were Jawaan Rubin ( James Logan), Daris Parker (Oakland High), Jonathan Wallace (Emery), Chris Byrd (San Leandro), Chris Green (Castlemont) And Kenny O’Keith (Castro Valley).
