It’s called "reaping the fruits of your labor". This month our Athlete of the Month is Rashaun Puryear. Rashaun has worked very hard to perfect his game to be ready for the next level. And it didn’t all happen just this past month. Rashaun has been on a roll since we were in Stockton at the North American Youth Sports Regional Tournament. (June 2000).

To show the progression, if you go back to the Slam n Jam league and tournament, Rashaun’s scoring average was about 1.75 per game. In Stockton it almost doubled to 3.47 per game. By the time we played in Las Vegas at the Summer Classic (August 2000), Rashuan was averaging 10.0 pts and about 7 rebounds per game. Also during July 2000 his Northgate High School team was runner-up in the 32 Team Skyline College Tournament. Rashaun made the All Tournament Team while averaging 18 points and 10 rebounds. At a pre-season tournament, the Pirate Holiday Classic in San Leandro, Rashaun was named MVP as Northgate won the Tournament and he averaged 20 pts per game. At the Ygnacio Valley Tournament he was named All Tournament while averaging 16 points per game. Currently Rashaun is averaging about 15 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 46% from the field with 2 blocks per game. The NorCal Magic is very excited about the coming up Slam n Jam Spring League and Tournament. We think with the players that we have, there is a very good chance…..For more information on Rashaun Puryear click here and go to High School Preps 2002…….
