Kellogg Says He's A Husky

After being overlooked by virtually every scouting service in the country (except yours truly) the past year, Antonio Kellogg of McClymonds High School has finally arrived. The 6-foot-1, 180 pound combo guard from McClymonds High School says he will play his college ball in the Big East.

Kellogg verbally committed to the University of Connecticut on Thursday after visiting the Husky campus last week. He also received interest from Washington, Oregon, Oregon State, Kansas, Purdue, Oklahoma, and Arkansas but the UConn trip won him over.

"After I came back from the trip, I felt like I can get something done," said Kellogg. "The players were cool."

Kellogg scored a 1150 on his SAT back in December which boosted his recruiting. After hearing the news, major college programs throughout the country immediately jumped on the bandwagon.

Antonio leads the Warriors (15-6) this season with 22 points per game and a career high 38 points against Deer Valley earlier in the year. He will now concentrate on other things.

"I can now focus on academics," said Kellogg.

Earlier in the day, the Warriors beat league rival Skyline to vault them atop the Oakland Athletic League at 3-1. Kellogg is positive about where the team is headed. "We're back on the same page again," said Antonio. "For the seniors, this is our last time playing. We just got to go out there and execute."
