“MAGIC  GO  5-1  IN  LAS VEGAS

At the 2004 Nike Las Vegas National Championships the NorCal Magic Finished in 6th place, out of 48 teams, held in Las Vegas July 27 thru 31.  A NCAA sanctioned  event.  The Magic started on a roll by beating The Virgin Islands 80-37.  Next we beat the Wisconsin Lakers 64-44.

The Magic then beat one of the top teams in the Tournament, The Australian National Team  72-68, in a hard fought game.  We then beat Ballers for Christ from Bakersfield   78-61.  The Magic were then upset by the Oxnard Rebels ( Calif ) in the quarter finals 75-74 on a shot at the buzzer in overtime.  We were not on our best game, looked tired.  We had five players averaging in double figures.  Kevin Tyler (Berkeley) the leader with 13.3 per game, followed by Dominique Watson (Mojave-Las Vegas) 12.5, Rob Mitchell ( Berkeley ) 11.3, Terrance Wilder (McClymonds) 10.0 and Travis Stuman (Cornardo-Las Vegas) 10.0 per game, also Justin Holmes (Fremont-Oakland) 7.2, Darnell Grier (Mojave-Las Vegas)  6.7 and Will Nganga ( Oakland High) 4.0. and Prince Ray Pope ( North Salinas ). Brief rundown: Tyler ’s scoring and rebounding>Watson’s scoring and acrobated play>Mitchell’s scoring and defense>Wilders scoring and rebounding>Stuman’s NBA range 3 pointers and team play>Holmes’s timely scoring and tough play>Nganga’s point guard play and defense>Grier’s clutch shooting and rebounding…..these are the things that made it happen,,,,,
